English-speaking Therapist in Geneva:
Marie-Alix Diwan, M.A

My name is Marie-Alix and I am an English-speaking therapist in Geneva. I am American and Swiss, living in Geneva since seven years.

I enjoy providing a confidential space for people to feel heard, safe, and understood. I create this space by listening to your story with kindness, acceptance and curiosity. I also believe in practical help and therefore will, when appropriate, proactively give you actionable tools to assist your growth. My main goal is to guide you towards feeling confidently autonomous so that ideally you no longer need counseling. Surely, you are always welcome to return as life inevitably takes us through different stages generating new challenges and opportunities for further learning.

I mainly work with English-speaking expats - young adults and adults - from all cultures and backgrounds who are generally well but require some additional support regarding common emotional difficulties such as low mood, anxiety, stress and low self-esteem. I am also a practitioner in the Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator (MBTI) and can help you better understand your personality.

If you feel anxious before the first session, this is completely normal. The first session is a chance to hear more about how I work, to get a sense of whether you feel comfortable with me, and whether my approach can help you move forward. Please do contact for more information. Looking forward to hearing from you!
"It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried” - Carl Rogers
The client is the most important person on our journey together. Every client has a unique story and I have the privilege of witnessing.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY
You are very different than the counselors I met before, they would only tell me to make friends but you would tell me exactly how to do it
I will always remember what you taught me, boundaries, listening to my feeling... How loving someone actually feels, how real friends are actually the ones who celebrate your success together and how life is always up and down that it is okay to feel sad and how to embrace sadness... I'm really grateful for everything
I love all our sessions together and I am really thankful for them, I feel like I’ve learned so much about myself, who I am and what I’m feeling
