FAQ
Is counseling covered by Swiss insurance?
Best to contact your insurance provider directly to find out if counseling sessions are reimbursed. Counseling sessions are typically not covered by Swiss insurance. However, some international insurance providers, US based insurance providers, and student health insurance providers do.
How long does each counseling session take?
Counseling sessions are in person and/or online, for 60 minutes unless otherwise agreed upon. If there is an imminent need for a longer session, then I will do my best to accommodate.
How long does each MBTI feedback session take?
MBTI feedback sessions are in person and/or online, for 90 minutes unless otherwise agreed upon.
Do I need to take counseling sessions before taking the MBTI assessment?
No, you do not. Taking the MBTI assessment is a separate service to counseling. However, using the MBTI assessment is a useful tool to apply in counseling sessions. Therefore, if a client wishes to begin counseling sessions after having taken the MBTI assessment, they are welcome to do so. Also, if an existing counseling client would like to take the MBTI assessment, they are welcome to do so as well.
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
I do offer sliding scale rates for counseling sessions. I believe everyone should have access to mental wellbeing services. Unfortunately, however, these cases are limited.
Do you prescribe medication?
No, I do not. Medication is prescribed by psychiatrists and medical doctors. I can work in conjunction with a psychiatrist for optimum care. In these cases, the client will go to the psychiatrist for medication management, and meet with me for counseling.
Do you offer counseling sessions online?
Yes, I do. However, I recommend meeting in person if possible.Unless otherwise requested, online counseling sessions are held via Zoom because it is a secure platform and HIPAA compliant.
Do you offer phone sessions?
Yes, I do for existing client's. To ensure effective counseling work, the first few sessions with a new client is in person or via an online video session.
How long does a client stay in counseling?
This will depend on the client and the goals. Some client's would like immediate short-term support through a particular issue and other client's would like ongoing long-term support.
What counseling approach do you use?
In my practice, I use an Integrative Counseling Approach. This means that I create a unique approach for each client by combining specific techniques from a variety of therapies. You can find more information about Integrative Counseling here. My Integrative Counseling Approach incorporates elements from therapies such Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I also use Psychoanalytical therapies such as Jungian Therapy (especially in my MBTI work). My client case conceptualisation is influenced by Systemic Therapy.
What about COVID-19?
I follow the guidelines and regulations set forth by the Office Fédéral de la Santé Public (OFSP Federal Office of Public Health in Switzerland). I continue to monitor the announcements and I adjust according to the updated measures. In my practice, I respect social distancing and hand sanitiser is available.
